Steve Kenzie, Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network UK, officially launched '2030 Vision: Uniting Europe in the Fight Against Illicit Financial Flows' at the 2024 Leaders Summit in New York.

United Kingdom

UK is not a target country of the Siemens Integrity Initiative. However, as a winner of the 2024 internal ACCA contest, it is receiving support through the Golden Stretch Round by the Siemens Integrity Initiative.

The Global Compact Network UK initiated the 2030 Vision initiative in 2024, serving as the driving force behind the effort to address illicit financial flows (IFFs) and foster business integrity across Europe. This initiative brings together key private sector players, civil society organizations, Governments, and academic institutions, uniting them in the fight against corruption and advocating for policies that promote financial transparency and ethical business practices.

Mission

The 2030 Vision initiative aims to enhance the fight against illicit financial flows by establishing a platform for policy dialogue and collaboration among European stakeholders. The initiative focuses on empowering businesses to adopt best practices in anti-corruption, advocating for stronger regulatory frameworks, and fostering a culture of integrity across the private and public sectors. By embedding business integrity principles into company operations, it aims to reduce the risk of legal, financial, and reputational harm caused by illicit activities.

Collaborative efforts

The initiative has garnered support from various sectors, including financial institutions, legal advisors, tax consultants, and academia. In collaboration with key stakeholders such as governmental agencies, international organizations, and think tanks, the 2030 Vision initiative has made strides in influencing policy at both the national and regional levels. Through Collective Action, businesses are encouraged to take a proactive role in curbing illicit financial flows and fostering transparency in cross-border transactions.

Looking ahead

The 2030 Vision initiative is dedicated to building on its momentum by continuing to engage with European businesses and policymakers. Plans for the future include organizing regional workshops and training programs focused on anti-corruption practices, further developing policy advocacy efforts, and expanding the initiative’s impact through continued engagement with stakeholders across Europe. The Collective Action roadmap will continue to evolve with input from all sectors, creating a stronger and more sustainable foundation for tackling illicit financial flows in Europe.

Main accomplishments

  • Hosted an introductory workshop on collective action with 58 private sector participants across the UK.

  • Facilitated early-stage discussions with key stakeholders, setting the groundwork for future policy advocacy and collaborative projects.
