The Global Compact Network Brazil has been a pivotal force in advancing corporate sustainability in the South American nation since its inception in 2003. Over the years, Network Brazil has led significant initiatives under the Advancing Anti-Corruption through Collective Action project that it launched in 2013. The project has positioned Network Brazil as a key player in promoting integrity and anti-corruption efforts across various sectors.
Since 2017, in the
Third Funding Round of the Siemens Integrity Initiative, efforts have engaged the agribusiness sector, with 19 companies and 10 business associations participating. In 2021, under the Golden Stretch Funding Round, Network Brazil began its work with the energy sector, bringing together 15 committed companies.
Mission
By engaging cross-functional stakeholders, facilitating dialogues and fostering a culture of integrity, Network Brazil strives to create a sustainable and transparent business environment. It aims to spread
integrity through the supply chain
and inspire other sectors.
Collaborative efforts
Network Brazil has played a crucial role in advancing Anti-Corruption Colelctive Action, particularly in guiding the
agribusiness and energy sectors
and in developing sectoral pacts in the Amazon region. This initiative has significantly improved engagement and facilitated solution-sharing in key areas vital to Brazil’s development.
The Network also has played a prominent role in several national and international efforts to combat corruption. It actively monitors the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention, participates in the National Board of Transparency and Integrity and is involved with the B20 Task Force on Integrity & Compliance. Additionally, Network Brazil serves as the national hub for the Alliance for Integrity and the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) Permanent Committees. It is also a member of the Pro-Ethics Evaluation Committee of the Office of the Comptroller General (CGU).
Looking ahead
Plans include launching sectoral pacts under the “Impacto Amazônia” initiative to establish Anti-Corruption Collective Action principles in key industries and promote sustainable business practices in the Amazon region. Additionally, introduction of “ESG Guidelines: Anti-Corruption and Governance Approach,” completion of stakeholder mapping in the energy sector and participation at B20 Task Force on Integrity & Compliance are planned to highlight these initiatives on a global stage.
