Launch of the “Ethics and Integrity” Collection during the 2024 SDG Flag Day. The launch was celebrated together with the PPI signatories and Government bodies.
Portugal
Note: Portugal is not a target country of the Siemens Integrity Initiative and is self funded.
The Anti-Corruption Campaign led by Global Compact Network Portugal and the Associação Portuguesa de Ética Empresarial, held in Portugal between September and December 2019, resulted in the emergence of Plataforma Portuguesa para a Integridade (PPI). The PPI was established to champion the fight against corruption and promote integrity across all sectors in Portugal.
Mission
PPI brings together organizations that urge Governments to prioritize corruption prevention, transparency, and good governance as fundamental pillars of a sustainable and inclusive global economy. The organizations that commit to PPI view corruption as a sign of organizational failure and integrity as a hallmark of a healthy organization. They believe that integrity should be promoted within organizations, and that policies, tools, and measures should be implemented for risk identification, capacity building, continuous improvement, and practical discussions, along with any other actions the organization deems necessary, in order to foster a solid ethical culture and the practice of integrity.
Collaborative efforts
Since its inception, PPI has successfully brought together stakeholders from the private sector, public sector, academia, and Government bodies to advance anti-corruption initiatives. One of the key collaborations has been with the Mecanismo Nacional Anticorrupção (MENAC), a national anti-corruption body, to launch initiatives and organize events aimed at promoting good governance.
Looking ahead
Looking to the future, PPI is focused on expanding its impact through the
development of e-learning
content on integrity and the creation of organizational diagnostic tools to help businesses and public entities strengthen their anti-corruption frameworks. These initiatives will be a significant part of the work planned for 2025-2026.
