The Global Compact Network Bangladesh was established in 2009 to champion corporate sustainability in alignment with the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact.
In 2021, the Network Bangladesh started the project titled Advancing Anti-Corruption through Collective Action to combat corruption in Bangladesh and promote integrity and good governance.
Mission
The goal at Network Bangladesh is to accelerate the collective impact of businesses by upholding Principle Ten of the UN Global Compact: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery. By engaging cross-functional stakeholders, facilitating dialogues and strengthening commitments, Collective Action has proven to be the most effective path to creating a more ethical society.
Collaborative efforts
Despite initial challenges, including stakeholder hesitation, diverse sectors have been successfully engaged to drive Collective Action against corruption. Collaborations with business associations and civil society organizations like Transparency International Bangladesh, the Asian Development Bank and others have strengthened efforts, creating a synergistic approach to tackling corruption.
Looking ahead
Network Bangladesh is committed to sustainability and impact. The
Playbook for Anti-Corruption Collective Action has been introduced, and
capacity-building will continue through e-learning modules. The proactive Working Group will evolve into an
Integrity Pact
to ensure long-term success.
